About the Đạo Mẫu Project — a Vietnamese Folk Religion Guide

Editorial methods and sourcing standards for an English guide to Đạo Mẫu — the Vietnamese folk religion of Mother Goddess worship, whose practices were inscribed by UNESCO as Intangible Cultural Heritage in 2016.

Purpose

This non-commercial cultural project makes research-informed introductions to Đạo Mẫu available in Vietnamese and English.

Editorial policy

We prioritise UNESCO records, cultural authorities, museums, scholarly books and peer-reviewed research. Oral accounts are labelled as tradition or variants rather than presented as verified archival history. Substantive corrections update both the visible text and its metadata.

Corrections

A correction request should identify the URL, disputed passage and a checkable source. The project does not accept payment for editorial conclusions or links.
